ALBUM REVIEW: The Album About Nothing-Wale

Wale released his fourth album, The Album About Nothing, on March 31, which you KNOW I copped (three physical copies with the different covers plus the digital version from iTunes...no games here). I contemplated long and hard whether or not I was going to review this album. As a huge supporter of his, I knew that this album was going to be different, and I partly just wanted to enjoy him telling his story. As an entertainment blogger, I felt obligated to share my thoughts on the album. I decided to sit with the album this week, and THEN review (I mean, as J. Cole said, "1 listen reviews are fxcking up hip hop."). For lyricists like Cole and Wale, you need to really study their work to truly understand, so I did.

Using a Seinfeld theme, as used in previous mixtapes The Mixtape About Nothing and More About Nothing, Wale incorporates dialogue from the show, as well recorded conversations between him and Jerry Seinfeld himself! The album features production from DJ Dahi, Pro Reese, No Credit, Ayy Dot, and more, as well as vocals from stars like J. Cole, SZA, and Usher. I literally haven't stopped listening since the album's release. Honestly, I was impressed, the most impressed I've ever been by any of his studio albums. The vulnerability and expression is on another level on TAAN, and that is impressing many people, beyond just his fans.

MUSIC VIDEO: "The White Shoes"-Wale

I'm so excited that Wale has officially released his video for "The White Shoes," the latest song off his upcoming album, The Album About Nothing!

Before you believe that this song is about materialism and copping white shoes, really listen to the message that Wale gives in the song. In the visual, we see a young boy in DC saving up for a nice pair of white shoes, but his joy in the shoes is, unfortunately, short-lived. "The White Shoes" symbolizes finding happiness in spite of those who may judge or look down on you.

Wale also included a group of moonz from the DMV (I had a previous appointment or I definitely would've been there!), which shows the love he has for us! I was able to get my pre-orders of the album a little ahead of time, and let me tell you, this is a very special project! Wale definitely gave his heart on this one.

NEW MUSIC: "The Matrimony"-Wale feat. Usher

"If there's a question of my love, you got it...Baby, don't worry. I've got plans for you...."

Everyone who knows me knows how big of a fan I am of Wale. Hell, I'm beyond a fan. I'm one of the Moonz (if you have to ask, you'll never know!). With his fourth album, The Album About Nothing, set to be released this month on March 31, to say that I'll be promoting him heavily here and on social media is an understatement! A little bit of a bias, but he's my favorite rapper, so expect to see his music and videos here!

The rapper dropped his latest single, "The Matrimony," today, which features the smooth vocals of Usher. Wale opens up about how he has been considering taking his relationship to the next level. He's definitely scared, but it's marriage and a family is definitely something that he wants. He also opened up about how the woman that he speaks of on the track suffered a miscarriage (which broke my heart because he's spoken before about how he wants a family).

MUSIC VIDEO: "The Followers"-Wale

Wale has just released his video for "The Followers." Directed by Jon J and Shaun Ross, the video features Wale rapping on where his head's been since the release of The Gifted back in 2013. He's taken a lot of mental breaks recently, and even had an undisclosed surgery some weeks ago, so it's clear he's been reflecting not only on his career but his life in general. With The Album About Nothing coming sooner than later, I'm definitely interested to see what he's going to give the fans next! I need that video for "The Body" too, Wale!

Check out the video for "The Followers" below!

I'm also excited to go see him yet again in 2015 when the Simply Nothing tour hits the Fillmore in Silver Spring (Get your tickets here)! I plan to be front row center!
