NEW MUSIC: "Be There For Me"- Soul Singer Mariam

New music this morning! Check out this track from the UK's own soul/pop singer Mariam titled "Be There For Me!"

The upbeat song focuses on unrequited love, where Mariam just wants her significant other to give the same care to her that she gives herself. No matter what she tries, it's just not clicking with this person. "It speaks about that moment you realize you can’t make anyone love you or reciprocate affection," she said of the track. The track is also the debut single from Mariam's debut EP, Heart To Heart, which will be released this Friday!

#MondayMotivation

Good morning everybody...HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Here's some #MondayMotivation to help get you through the week!

As many of us heavily going after our goals know, there's a lot of sacrifice that comes along with that. A LOT.  And I used to feel like I had to explain certain moves that I made or didn't make in my life concerning my writing career. And yet, people wouldn't understand, which was frustrating to me.

When I read this quote for the first time a long while back, I realized that you can't truly expect people to understand the path that God has put you on. You just have to keep doing your own thing regardless. Some people will get it and support, and others won't, and you have to be okay with that. Just keep grinding.

Throwback Jam of the Week: "Déjà Vu-Beyoncé

It's Throwback Thursday, and we're back with another great jam from back in the day!

Everyone who knows me knows just how much I love Beyoncé...as does the majority of the world. Even the ones who don't can't really deny her talent and success!

So, on this Thursday, I dedicate Throwback Thursday to her with one of my favorite dance tracks by her, Déjà Vu! The 2006 track featuring Bey's husband Jay-Z, the lead single off of her second album B'Day), definitely wasn't the biggest hit of her career. However, to me, it was electrifying to watch every time she performed it. Case in point, the 2006 BET Awards (even 10 years later, that choreography still stands out my mind!). Every time I hear it, I want to dance!

TRAILER: 'Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life'

The official trailer for the long awaited Gilmore Girls' four part series, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life was released today, and I, for one, am too hype about it!

In the trailer we see mother-daughter duo Lorelai and Rory Gilmore (Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel) in Stars Hollow, still eating a bunch of junk and exchanging witty banter. However, now they are in completely new phases of life, especially with the passing of family patriarch Richard Gilmore (Edward Herrmann, who, in real life, passed away in 2014).  But we get to see the rest of the old gang from the original show, including, hallelujah, Melissa McCarthy, in all her glory back as Sookie!

In The Spotlight: Pop/Soul Singer Tamtam

Another great spotlight for y'all! As always, if you are or represent an upcoming artist, designer, dancer, etc., and are interested in being featured on The Spotlight, please visit our Features/Submissions page for more information!

Today, we have Saudi Arabian pop/soul singer Tamtam

The artist has had a thirst for music since she was a young girl growing up in the Middle East. I’ve wanted to do music since I was eleven years old," Tamtam revealed. "But back then, I didn’t think it
would be a possibility for me because I grew up in a more conservative society in the Middle East." When she was 13, she decided to sign up for a talent show at school to showcase her talent and love of music, the first time of many that she performed live in front of a big audience. Inspired greatly by Michael Jackson, Tamtam sang "Thriller" for her performance, and decided then that music was her life path. "Ever since that night, I knew that this was something I was going to pursue against all odds," the singer said.

MUSIC VIDEO: "ElAy"-Soul Singer Niki J. Crawford

Funk/soul singer Niki J. Crawford has released the official music video for her track, "ElAy."

In the video, Niki performs the song alongside her band in front of an live audience. The song, the first second off of Niki's upcoming album, The Second Truth, mentions life in LA (spelled phonetically "ElAy" for this song) and trying to be make your big dreams happen over there. "ElAy, nobody walks in reality," Niki sing. "ElAy, the dreams will make you stay." The music is great, and Niki's vocals are powerful but smooth. Definitely feeling this one.

NEW MUSIC: Soul Track "Tengo"-Singer Lynette Williams

Here's some new music for you guys to check out! Today, we have track "Tengo" from singer Lynette Williams

The soulful track, which is on the singer's upcoming EP set for release on November 11, features Lynette somberly singing about "The way you always running, was I ever a contender? Was I ever something more than what you said?" She could've very easily moved on to the next, but she stayed loyal to this person, though it seems like it's all for naught. It's definitely an honest song that a good number of us, including myself, can connect to.
Check out the track below!

#MondayMotivation

Good morning people...another Monday is here and it's back to the grind! Here's some #MondayMotivation to get you moving.

This was an important lesson for me to learn. You have to shake things up in your routine in order to get to where you want to be. For me, one of the things I changed was putting in extra work at my desk during lunch most days to focus more on my writing project#s instead of going out somewhere. You do what you have to do to get to where you want to be. Wishing you all a great, productive week!

CONCERT: Adele Hits Washington D.C. for Her Adele Live 2016 World Tour!

Adele hit the Verizon Center in Washington D.C, for her Adele Live 2016 World Tour last night...and I made it!

This has been Adele's first big arena tour, and I had to go see her since it'll probably be a good while before she tours again. I got my ticket back in DECEMBER of last year, and it sold out quick, so that tells you how highly anticipated this show was!

NEW MUSIC: "NFF!"-Xav A. feat. Awesum Crawford

Singer Xav A is back with a funky new song "NFF!" featuring Awesum Crawford!

Released September 23, the upbeat song actually expressed a lot of bad feelings that Xav had going on in his head at the time he wrote it. "The song came to me when I realized that I was playing a loop of negativity in my head--stuff that was belittling my talent. I put the pieces together and remembered where I first heard those things and I was just so shocked about how long I had been holding onto that mental baggage! It was almost like 5 or 6 years," the artist admitted. "So in the song I am comparing the negativity in my head to fungus on your toes because they both stink and they're both something that you physically can't walk away from."

"NFF!" is the first single on Xav's upcoming album, a project that he calls his "most cohesive work" yet!  "It really utilizes the throwback 90's R&B sound to the fullest, and the songs tell a story together so that's marvelous," the singer said. "I also have some of my favorite collaborations ever on the upcoming project! Awesum Crawford elevated my song to a whole new level and I'm just thankful to have friends like her and the other great artists that I can't wait to reveal!"

Definitely like this guy's style and sound! Check out "NFF" below!

#MondayMotivation

Good morning y'all! Many of us are out today for Columbus Day, but still wanted to pass along this little nugget of motivation for the week.

A lot of folks talk a mean game about what they want to do, or what they plan to do. However, none of that means anything without execution.  You will never get started if you never take any action. Simply put, stop talking about it and be about it!

#MondayMotivation

It's Monday, and this week's #MondayMotivation is special to me. In life, you will face so many obstacles, several things that can get you off track for a second. I know I could go on and on about mine.

The main thing to remember is to never let those shortcomings, those "stumbles in the road" take you off your journey completely. That's where I am right now in my life, but I have to keep going. I hope ya'll do too. Have a great week!
