Stacey Dash Is Leaving Single Ladies!

After much speculation, it is official. Stacey Dash is officially leaving VH1's scripted series, Single Ladies. She made an exclusive statement to Global Grind this afternoon. "I truly enjoyed playing Val on 'Single Ladies', but I have decided to leave the show," Stacey said. "I have to be back in L.A. with my children right now and the Single Ladies shooting location makes that impossible. I wish VH1 the best of luck with the show and in maintaining the strong fan base we developed in season one."

I literally screamed "NOOOOOO!!!" at this news just now. Honestly, out of everyone's storyline on the show, Val's was the one that I was most intrigued by. And now, I feel like the show will just be completely off, especially if they scrap Val completely. What's going to happen with the shop, where three of the characters, Keisha, Omar, and intern Christina works? Is VH1 going to have someone step into her role? AND does Stacey really have family issues to take care of, or is her leaving really based on issues she had with Lisa Raye on the set? It just leaves a lot of unanswered questions.

We'll see what happens next season. I'm just extremely disappointed with the end result. But, hey, that's the business. Wishing Stacey and her family the best, as well as the cast and crew as they adapt to this change.

"That Way"- Wale feat. Jeremih and Rick Ross (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

Wale released his video for "That Way," which features Jeremih and Rick Ross, on 106 & Park today. After missing it at the beginning of the show, I sat there flipping between The Addams Family and BET for almost 2 hours! Only for him. I just...I love him. I do. And that's all I have to say. From Self Made, Vol 1 by Maybach Music, check out the video for "That Way" below!

REVIEW: MTV VMAs 2011

*SPOILER ALERT! This review covers ALL of the 2011 MTV Music Video Awards!*

I started doing my review to MTV's Video Music Awards when I first started the blog, after doing a review on the BET Awards. So, of course, I'm keeping up the tradition! The VMAs is one of MTV's top events all year, along with the Movie Awards, so my eyes were glued to the TV!

The VMA pre-show was just like the BET pre-show. Just ehh. Sway hosted with Selena Gomez at the JW Marriott in LA. Guests included the cast of Jersey Shore, Rick Ross (ahem, Wale better get his air time next year MTV), Demi Lovato, Taylor Lautner and more. There was a disaster of a performance by Cobra Starship and Sabi, who I had heard of, but never heard the song they did. And now that I have, I'll pass. They can't sing, and their performance didn't impress. And I'm the only one who saw when they cut in front of Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa in the paparazzi area? Why weren't they on stage from the beginning, MTV? That design in that hotel was way too much.

Another thing I noticed was that MTV continued to ask people about their problems with each other, i.e., asking Rick Ross and DJ Khaled about Kreayshawn, Tyler the Creator about Bruno Mars, who's stupid behind proceeds to go in on him (Somebody please get this boy a decent publicist. I'll talk more about him later). I really didn't like that. Like we all know that people have issues with each other, but that doesn't mean you have to worsen the situation on your red carpet.

"And The Wall Won"-Jersey Shore S4, E5 (Recap)

Though one has absolutely nothing to do with the other, I would like to start this post by saying happy birthday to the late great Michael Jackson. Never forgotten...RIP.

The wall really did win in this special episode of the Shore! Before the VMAs, MTV aired a new episode of Jersey Shore, which made me happy because I HAD to see what was going to happen after last Thursday's episode. The episode picks up with Ronnie and Mike fighting. Now for those of you who didn't read my last recap, Ronnie tears up his and Mike's room after Sammi told him that Mike told the rest of the house how Ronnie had plans to bring home other girls and everything. Not that it wasn't true, but Ronnie had so much anger and frustration built up towards Mike that he just let loose. Surprisingly though, the fight wasn't what I thought it would be! BEYONCE'S PREGNANT!!!!

Yes, for real this time!!!!! It was announced tonight to MTV behind the scenes at the VMAs and someone snapped this pic! Congrats to Beyoncé and Jay-Z!!!!!!

"Fly"-Nicki Minaj feat. Rihanna (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

MTV premiered the official video for "Fly" by Nicki Minaj featuring Rihanna moments ago on MTV.com. It's not my favorite song off of Pink Friday, but it definitely has a good message-conquering your battles and succeeding!

Walking around a crashed airplane and debris, Nicki and Rihanna both looked amazing from the hair to the fashion! Nicki even had a fight sequence with a fierce mohawk! You know, people can say what they want, but both Nicki and Rihanna are killing right now! I loved that they both did collabs on each other's album (Nicki was on Rihanna's "Raining Men," which should actually be a single Rihanna!). "Fly" was a pretty good video...check it out below!

In The Spotlight: Lil Dep

Have another spotlight for you all. Today, we have rapper Lil Dep! From Miami, 18-year-old Raheem Cooper admits that his life was headed in the wrong direction and getting into music changed his life. Known as Lil Dep, the rapper started in music around 2008. "My godbrother and I opened up a studio and we sorta built from there," he said. From there, he began connecting with other rappers and networking. Now they run their own label Hustle-N-Swag Entertainment.

He actually has 12 mixtapes out right now, and is currently working on his 13th! "[It's] called Pink Slips, so people can look for that late September or early October," Lil Dep said. "I feel this project will be my best one, from the content to the lyrics. I focus more on making classic tracks rather then hits."

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial

Unfortunately, because of Hurricane Irene coming, the celebrations for the newly opened Martin Luther King, Jr.  Memorial in D.C. have been postponed until later this fall. I wanted to go down anyway and check it out. Now, it is a WALK from the Smithsonian Metro, and I was sweating like a pig trying to get there after work, but it was worth it.

The memorial was absolutely beautiful! Of course, I snapped some pictures, especially because so many won't be able to make it in this weekend as planned. See the memorial after the jump!

"Collide"-Leona Lewis (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

I don't know what is about this week, but everybody is putting out their new videos! Been posting embed codes like crazy! Maybe because it's end of summer. Leona Lewis has released her video for her single "Collide," which is off of her upcoming album Glass Heart!

The video features Leona having a little get together on a beach, singing her heart out as usual, and getting in the water as waves crash into her and her love interest. Goes along with the theme of the song--lovers colliding into each other, uniting as one. It's not my favorite song by her, but it's very catchy and fun! I absolutely LOVE her voice!

Check out the video below!

"Crime and Punishment"-Jersey Shore S4, E4 (Recap)

Ronnie and Mike start to fight at the end of the episode!
JERSEY SHORE RECAP! Oh the drama of this episode!!! Let's dive right into it.

The episode starts with every one in the house discussing Deena's robbery and lesbian hookup of last episode, where she removed one of the DTF twins from Vinny's bed and made out with her. The boys make jokes about her throughout the episode, and eventually Pauly and Vinny play a prank on her her, moving her bed to the living room. That really hurt her, and it looked like she was about to have a mental breakdown. I will say that in this season, Deena changed a bit. Pauly goes in on her, and tells her that she was not acting like "one of the guys" anymore. Deena, out of all of the girls, was the least likely to block, the one that the guys wanted to be around the most, especially Pauly and Vinny. And she for sure wasn't hooking up with girls! So I got where he was coming from. Deena herself acknowledges that she wasn't the same, and couldn't figure out why. Neither can anyone else. She promises to work on it, and everyone hugs it out. No big deal.

"Cheers (Drink To That)"-Rihanna (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

Rihanna has released her official video for "Cheers (Drink To That)! Just in time for the weekend! I'll drink to that! The video features clips from her concerts, and Rihanna just having a good time in different places. The video also had cameos from Avril Lavigne, Cee-Lo Green, Kanye West, and Jay-Z!

This song is one of my favorites from Rihanna's fifth album, Loud. RiRi is the QUEEN when it comes to having good singles. Simply fact. The video went along well with the song. It's just an overall fun video, which is the theme of the song. Just have a good time, drink up, and enjoy life. Life's too short to be walking around miserable! Check out the video below!

5 Less Known Aaliyah Songs

I said I was going to do this post yesterday, but I didn't want to go on overload. Most people know Aaliyah for songs like "One in A Million," "Are You That Somebody," or "Age Ain't Nothing But A Number." All classic Aaliyah, but all are talked about year after year. So I wanted to share 5 of my favorite Aaliyah songs that aren't really heard as much. RIP Baby Girl.

1+1-Beyoncé (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

The video for Beyoncé's ballad 1+1 was released moments ago on E! News. It wasn't much. I think I get in trouble with music videos, because I always envision my own treatments and then the videos of course, are nothing like my vision ha! Like "Lose Control" by Keri Hilson. NOTHING like I wanted to see. I would've liked to see a love interest in this video, and a story line for the song. However, the visuals were still great, and Beyoncé looked HOT!!! She was singing straight to her love! Check out the video below!

Celebrating Aaliyah

It's hard to believe it's been 10 years since the tragic passing of Aaliyah. She had just wrapped on shooting what would be her final video, "Rock the Boat," in the Bahamas. The plane shortly after takeoff was seen veering to the left, and crashed to the ground moments later, taking the life of Aaliyah and eight others: Scott Gallin, Keith Wallace, Douglas Kratz, Eric Foreman, Gina Smith, Christopher Maldonado, Anthony Dodd, and the pilot, Luis Marael. A tragedy indeed. Rest in peace to all. I was only 10, but I remember finding out the next morning as I was getting ready for church. My mom had the news on the TV. "Singer Aaliyah Killed In Plane Crash." I was stunned. I had grown a liking to her music even then. It was devastating to hear.

10 years later, we are celebrating her legacy as a musician, and as an overall sweet person. No one in the industry ever categorized her as a typical R&B diva. She did her job, and did it with a smile. Her presence today is greatly missed.

I've decided to celebrate with some of my favorite songs/videos by the late great Aaliyah. Might not be all of the typical songs to choose from, but they're my top favorites. Check them out after the jump!

"How To Love"-Lil Wayne (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

Just when I start to get over Lil Wayne, he pulls me back in again. His video for his new song "How To Love" premiered on MTV Jams actually yesterday, but I'm just seeing it now.  It definitely has a beautiful message, and the visuals work so well. I can't lie, I didn't expect a song like this from him. At all. It's great that he decided to switch things up. GOOD JOB WEEZY! ANDDDD one of my top 10 boos, Tristan Wilds from 90210 and The Wire, had a small cameo!!! Check out the video below!
