If you're a podcast lover, you may have heard about them...if not get ready! Ranked #5 on Podcasts In Color'a Top 5 LGBTQ Podcasts in 2016 List, Chloe Zora and Chanel Glover, the ladies of the Overqualified & Drunk podcast, are a must listen! 

I'm glad to have the chance to feature them on The Spotlight, especially because I wouldn't have pursued a career in radio if it wasn't for Chloe, one of my first college Resident Advisors.

Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again" Nominated For Golden Globe

After the success of reaching 1 Billion Views on YouTube, Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth have more to celebrate! It was announced today along with the rest of the Golden Globe nominations, the duo's  hit sit single "See You Again" has been nominated for a Golden Globe Award in the category Best Original Song In A Motion Picture! 

In The Spotlight: Hip Hop Artist L-Dro

The next artist we're spotlighting hails from my hometown of Akron, Oh! Hip hop artist L-Dro was inspired by and grew up listening to artists such as Pac, Biggie, Nas, Jay-Z, Scarface, Jadakiss and AZ. These artists, who, in his opinion, were out when rap music was at its most competitive and authentic, influenced him to try out the music he most identified with growing up.

Wiz Khalifa & Charlie Puth's "See You Again" Hits 1 Billion Views on YouTube

Let's take the time to say congrats to Wiz Khalifa and singer Charlie Puth! I don't care if you're a fan of Wiz or not. His video "See You Again" off of the Fast & Furious 7 soundtrack has reached a BILLION views on YouTube! It also is the first rap video to do that and became the 10th most watched video on YouTube

Big Ups to the Taylor Gang Head Honcho!

NEW MUSIC: "Spoiled" - Wale

After multiple teases of the track on Snapchat, and in the midst of working on multiple projects including Self Made 5 and his next solo album, Wale releases the Pro Reese produced track, "Spoiled," with vocals from JaeFromVine!

Bow Wow Leaves Cash Money Records

Bow Wow is the latest rapper to cut contractual ties with Cash Money Records. Shad recently announced the split via his Facebook account. The rapper have been signed to the storied Southern rap imprint since 2009 but has yet to drop an album even though he has been frequently plugging his upcoming LP Underrated for years. 

According to Bow, the split was amicable. Clearly lack of support from the label to put out music is a major factor in Bow wanting to leave. This is the same gripe that has been brought up by CMR employees Lil Twist, Tyga and cash cow Lil Wayne in the recent past. This is the third Cash Money artist to jump ship in less than a year. Last July, Busta Rhymes left the label after spending nearly three unproductive years with Baby and Slim. In October, British R&B singer Jay Sean parted ways with CMR after six years with the New Orleans powerhouse, dropping three albums while with the label.
