The Notebook To Become A Musical?!!
Everyone knows the famous 2004 movie The Notebook, starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams! It was a beautiful love story that was extremely touching. And now it is going to be turned into a musical. Yep, you read right. A musical.
According to Access Hollywood, One Tree Hill star Bethany Joy Galeotti and music producer Ron Aniello are mounting a musical workshop based on the Nicholas Sparks novel.
On the producers' Web site, it is stated that the workshop, which will take place in Wilmington, North Carolina "is a preliminary step toward an eventual opening in New York." The actors that are participating in the workshop won't get a paycheck but the duo noted, "this is a great opportunity to be a part of the beginning stages of an original theatre piece headed for Broadway."
Auditions will start on August 1 in Wilmington and the performances are slated for the first two weekends in October.
UMM....I love musicals! I absolutely do.Annie, The Sound of Music, High School Musical, Dreamgirls, my favorite musicals list goes on and on! However, this is a MASSIVE FAIL!!!!! The Notebook was a great movie, filled with the right amount of drama and romance. Why mess it up with people trying to sing?!!! And it's not even the original actors in it! That's crazy. Honestly, I believe that that was a movie that can just be appreciated as it is. There is no need for a franchise--no direct-to-DVD sequel and definitely NO MUSICAL!!!! It's not necessary at all. What are you going to do? Have the scene where Noah is working on his house, and then he starts singing on the roof?! I say just leave it alone as is! Ugh...no need for it at all. Just no need!!!!
PEACE.
