Throwback Jam of the Week: "Crazy"-Britney Spears

It's Throwback Thursday, and we've got another jam from back in the day! 

This one is a classic song from Britney Spears herself—"Crazy!" This hit was big back then, and even now for her discography. It was also the theme track for the movie Drive Me Crazy, starring Melissa Joan Hart and Adrian Grenier, who also made cameos in the video.

Though I personally liked Christina Aguilera a little more back then, there's no denying that Britney had major impact. She was a huge part of the golden age of pop back in the mid to late 90s through the early '00s. This track was just one of her many memorable moments in her early career, and I loved it!

Throwback Jam of the Week: "Gangsta Lovin'"- Eve feat. Alicia Keys

It's Throwback Thursday, and we've got another jam from back in the day! 

Eve's track, "Gangsta Lovin,'" featuring Alicia Keys was released back in 2002 off of the rapper's Eve-olution album. This song was the first single off of the album, and ended up going #2 on the Billboard charts.
I remember loving this song as a pre-teen with absolutely no type of gangsta love for real! Definitely have a soft spot for this track because it reminds me of a special someone in my life now. Plus, it's a great jam to vibe to even 15 years later!

Throwback Jam of the Week: "The Boy Is Mine" -Brandy & Monica

It's Throwback Thursday, and we're back with another great jam from back in the day! 

When Brandy and Monica did their popular duet, "The Boy Is Mine," it's one of the very first songs that I can remember always listening to and singing as a young 90s kid. Like I knew that trouble! The video also featured a cameo from a young Mekhi Phifer, as, in the visual,  he went out with both of them and played them for fools. They got the last laugh though! 

The song seemed to start some industry-manufactured "beef" between them back in the day. Though they came together for another great song, "It All Belongs to Me," these two clearly aren't really friends, and have had some little moments over the years that show it. Regardless of which, this song is forever classic, and is one of my favorite 90s R&B jams. And like Monica said on The Real some months ago, the only Grammy that either one of them have is together on this joint!

Throwback Jam of the Week: "One More Chance"-The Notorious B.I.G.

It's Throwback Thursday, and we're back with another great jam from back in the day!

Crazy to believe that today marks 20 YEARS since the Notorious B.I.G. was killed. I was young, but still remember all of the reports and specials on the East Coast/West Coast beef, and both Tupac and Biggie's untimely and tragic murders. It's truly sad that their lives were cut short, but their legacies live on.

One of my favorite tracks by Biggie is definitely "One More Chance," with vocals on the hook from his then wife Faith Evans and Mary J. Blige. I loved how smooth this was, even back then when I probably shouldn't have been listening anyway! RIP Biggie...continued thoughts and prayers to his loved ones!

Throwback Jam of the Week: "Another Sad Love Song"-Toni Braxton

It's Throwback Thursday, and we've got another great jam from back in the day! 

"Another Sad Love Song" is probably my favorite track by THE Toni Braxton! It was the first official single from her self-titled, debut album back in '93. I was a young one, but as I grew older and listen to more and more R&B, Toni's discography definitely became a huge part of my music library.

This is indeed a sad love song, but, with the 90s vibes of the track, it's a great track to just sing at the top of your lungs and jam to! It's definitely one of Toni's greatest hits, with it hitting the top 10 on the Billboard 100 back then and winning Toni her first Grammy! It's music like this that really makes me think I grew up in the wrong era for music!

Throwback Jam of the Week: "Thnks fr th Mmrs"-Fall Out Boy

It's Throwback Thursday, and we've got another great jam from back in the day!

Today's throwback is a great one from Fall Out Boy! I'm not even the biggest fan of rock music, but I LOVED this song! The video was weird, but I liked the group's energy and performance style. Plus a younger Kim Kardashian was in this, which I didn't even realize back when it first came out! Really, really strange visual with these chimps all throughout, but this was still a great song.

Throwback Jam of the Week: "Heartbreak Hotel"-Whitney Houston feat. Faith Evans & Kelly Price

It's Throwback Thursday, and we're back with another jam from back in the day! 

It's crazy to believe that Saturday will mark five years since the legendary Whitney Houston passed away. Through all the ups and downs and even after her tragic passing, Whitney is still treasured in music and will forever be. Her voice was one of a kind!

One of my favorite hits from the singer was "Heartbreak Hotel" with Faith Evans and Kelly Price. Lyrically, it's a song of hurt and sadness, but musically, this joint is a BOP! And these talented three worked well as a trio on this song. When it comes on, I still sing and dance my heart out like I'm going through it myself...definitely a classic.

Throwback Jam of the Week: "No More"-Ruff Endz

It's Throwback Thursday, and we've got another great jam from back in the day!

Ruff Endz is one of my favorite R&B groups, probably the most underrated on my list. Nonetheless, they had some hits including "No More!" On the track, Dante ("Chi") and David ("Davinch") called out their girlfriends for being golddiggers, and shut down all their VIP treatment in a pretty classic early '00s video!

The group is on the comeback, with plans to drop a new album on Valentine's Day. And I, for one, am glad they're coming back!

Throwback Jam of the Week: "Every Little Step"-Bobby Brown

It's Throwback Thursday and we've got another throwback from back in the day! 

So, since The New Edition Story miniseries was being promoted and airing on BET, some NE and Bobby Brown music has been stuck in my head pretty much the last few weeks. Especially this jam, my favorite from the former Bad Boy of R&B, "Every Little Step!" Been hitting the steps around the house and everything. I SWEAR I was born in the wrong era. I was meant to be in my twenties in the late 80s and 90s!

Throwback Jam of the Week: "Come Back in One Piece"-Aaliyah feat. DMX

It's Throwback Thursday, and we're back with another jam from back in the day!

In honor of what would've been Aaliyah's 38th birthday this past Monday, this one is a classic with her and DMX, "Come Back in One Piece!" The track was featured on the Romeo Must Die soundtrack, and the pair also starred together in the flick, along with Jet Li. 
I really loved this track and video! It was the old tale of the bad boy running the streets, and the good girl he had back at home who had his back through whatever. These two worked well together, and my God, Aaliyah was so incredibly gorgeous!

Throwback Jam of the Week: "Love Don't Cost a Thing"-Jennifer Lopez

It's Throwback Thursday, and we're back with another great jam from back in the day!

Let's go back to the early 2000s with this hit from Jennifer Lopez — "Love Don't Cost a Thing!" From the late 90s and 2000s especially, Jenny from the block brought the hits. All this mess with Drake aside, she's still doing her thing in music (AND acting AND producing, et cetera, et cetera), and still looks amazing! This song was always my jam, and it popped up randomly on shuffle the other day. So I wanted to feature it this week!

Throwback Jam of the Week: "Satisfaction"-Eve

It's Throwback Thursday, and we're back with another great hit from back in the day!

As the former first lady of Ruff Ryders Entertainment, Eve definitely brought some hits in the late '90s and '00s, and "Satisfaction" was one of them for me. It's a banger, but also still really motivating to reach higher heights in my own career!

Throwback Jam of the Week: "8 Days of Christmas"-Destiny's Child

It's Throwback Thursday, and we're back with another jam from back in the day!

Since Christmas is Sunday, this one is only right. This week's throwback jam is one of my favorite holiday songs from my favorite group, Destiny's Child! "8 Days of Christmas" was fun and perfect for the holidays, and the video was really cute. I literally played it all the time, and still do. Matter of fact, after my parents finally let me have a CD player of my own, DC's album, titled 8 Days of Christmas, was my first official CD as a kid, and I played that thing ALL year round.

Throwback Jam of the Week: "Come On Over (All I Want Is You)"-Christina Aguilera

It's Throwback Thursday, and we've got another hit from back in the day! 

In the late 90s and early 2000s, the pop world was really booming. Christina Aguilera was undoubtedly a part of that, knocking us out with her powerful and completely unexpected voice! Rising in 1999 as a solo singer with her debut self-titled album, she gave us that blue eyed soul, and still does (waiting on a new album, girl!).

One of the hits from that album was definitely "Come On Over." I remember being a kid and just completely blown away by her vocals when I heard this track. It was really fun to dance to, and I couldn't help but TRY to hit her incredible runs.

Throwback Jam of the Week: "1, 2 Step"- Ciara feat. Missy Elliott

It's Throwback Thursday, and we're going back in time again with another throwback jam of the week! 

This week's throwback is one of my favorites from Ciara! When she first hit the scene back in 2004 with her smash hit, "Goodies," everyone was so impressed with her dance skills and flair. And we all almost broke our backs trying to do her version of the Matrix (I was on it when I was younger....but now? HA!). Another hit was "1,2 Step" featuring Missy Elliott, with Ciara's signature 1, 2 Step, which was simple but so much fun!  
I had forgot just how much I used to love this song. My Zumba instructor used this song recently for one of our dances in class, and I was going IN!  And, 12 years later, Ciara's still killing it on stage, especially on the dance tip. She's more chill right now since she's pregnant with her baby with husband Russell Wilson, but I'm sure she's getting right back to it afterwards!

Throwback Jam of the Week: "In Love Wit Chu" Da Brat ft. Cherish

It's Throwback Thursday, and we've got another great jam from back in the day!

Today's throwback jam is a track that I love from Da Brat..."In Love Wit Chu" featuring R&B group Cherish on the hook! From Brat's last studio album back in 2003, Limelite, Luv & Niteclubz, this single was upbeat and catchy, and great to dance too, even in my early teens. Like I really was in love with anybody back then!

Da Brat was absolutely beautiful in this video, and Cherish popped in too. We also saw cameos from Roy Jones and Mariah Carey, as well as a lot of eye candy for us ladies! Definitely one of my favorites from the early 2000s, especially in the summertime!

Throwback Jam of the Week: "Cry For You"-Jodeci

It's Throwback Thursday, and we've got another great jam from back in the day!

Today's throwback jam comes from the legendary R&B group, Jodeci! Their song, "Cry For You," from their second album, Diary of a Mad Band, blew up to #1 on the Hot R&B Singles chart. These guys definitely weren't too proud to beg and profess love of the ladies in their music. Plus, their vocals and harmonies were off the charts!!!

This is my personal favorite from the group, and honestly makes me wish I was old enough in the 90s to really vibe and enjoy the music back then. This video, though...HA! Black guys in leather in the desert is not a great combo theoretically, but, can't even lie, Jodeci made it look good!

Throwback Jam of the Week: "Déjà Vu-Beyoncé

It's Throwback Thursday, and we're back with another great jam from back in the day!

Everyone who knows me knows just how much I love Beyoncé...as does the majority of the world. Even the ones who don't can't really deny her talent and success! 

So, on this Thursday, I dedicate Throwback Thursday to her with one of my favorite dance tracks by her, Déjà Vu! The 2006 track featuring Bey's husband Jay-Z, the lead single off of her second album B'Day), definitely wasn't the biggest hit of her career. However, to me, it was electrifying to watch every time she performed it. Case in point, the 2006 BET Awards (even 10 years later, that choreography still stands out my mind!). Every time I hear it, I want to dance!

Throwback Jam of the Week: "Fergalicious"-Fergie

It's Throwback Thursday, and we have another great jam from back in the day! 

Fergie definitely came out strong with her debut album, The Dutchess, back in 2006, dropping a good six singles from this album including "London Bridge," "Big Girls Don't Cry," and, of course, this track "Fergalicious!" 

Featuring cameos from will.i.am. and Tommy the Clown, along with hot choreography and costuming, this visual is definitely one of my favorites from her to this day!

Throwback Jam of the Week: "Show Stopper"-Danity Kane feat. Yung Joc

It's Throwback Thursday, and we have another great jam from back in the day! 

Back in 2005, Aubrey O'Day, Aundrea Fimbres, Dawn Richard, Wanita "D. Woods" Woodgett, and Shannon Bex were chosen by Diddy to form a girl group on MTV's Making the Band. Creating the group, Danity Kane, the group released technically three albums--two as a quintet, and their last as a trio (with Aubrey, Dawn, and Shannon coming together after an initial break up of the group...only to then break up not too long after.

"Show Stopper" featuring Yung Joc was the ladies' debut single, which made it to the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100! It was definitely a catchy hit, that I still pull out of the bag every now and then. Glad I got to at least see Aubrey, Aundrea, Dawn and Shannon perform together before they split at the No Filter tour a few years back. They were really talented and could've gone a lot further than they did. Damn I miss this group!
