Whitney Houston Passed Away

I woke up to some terrible news just now. Legendary songstress, Whitney Houston, has passed away at the age of 48. The singer was known for her outstanding music and movie career, as well as her sad drug use and her crazy marriage to singer Bobby Brown.

Whitney's publicist, Kristen Foster, said Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause and the location of her death were unknown, according to ABC. Several other news sources such as CNN and TMZ has reported the singer's passing as well.

I honestly am in shock. One, because Whitney was only 48. That's my parents' age. I could only imagine. Two, she seemed to be on the road to getting herself together. We are truly losing all of our legends. Etta James, Don Cornelius, and now Whitney! It's terrible! Praying for Bobbi Kristina and the rest of Whitney's family. This is truly unbelievable!

RIP Whitney!

Celebrating Aaliyah

It's hard to believe it's been 10 years since the tragic passing of Aaliyah. She had just wrapped on shooting what would be her final video, "Rock the Boat," in the Bahamas. The plane shortly after takeoff was seen veering to the left, and crashed to the ground moments later, taking the life of Aaliyah and eight others: Scott Gallin, Keith Wallace, Douglas Kratz, Eric Foreman, Gina Smith, Christopher Maldonado, Anthony Dodd, and the pilot, Luis Marael. A tragedy indeed. Rest in peace to all. I was only 10, but I remember finding out the next morning as I was getting ready for church. My mom had the news on the TV. "Singer Aaliyah Killed In Plane Crash." I was stunned. I had grown a liking to her music even then. It was devastating to hear.

10 years later, we are celebrating her legacy as a musician, and as an overall sweet person. No one in the industry ever categorized her as a typical R&B diva. She did her job, and did it with a smile. Her presence today is greatly missed.

I've decided to celebrate with some of my favorite songs/videos by the late great Aaliyah. Might not be all of the typical songs to choose from, but they're my top favorites. Check them out after the jump!

Happy Birthday Michael Jackson

Morning yall. Happy Sunday! I very rarely do a post on Sundays, but of course, I had to write today. Today, the late legend Michael Jackson would have turned 52. He passed away last year on June 25. In remembrance of him, I made a music playlist filled with his songs as well as the Jackson Five. Including "Lisa It's Your Birthday" from his appearance on the Simpsons haha my bestie got me hooked on that song! So listen and jam along!

Seriously, it's crazy that he's gone. And it's even crazier the stories that have come out since he passed. His children all out in the public, Papa Joe and some other people still after money, etc etc. But staying on the positive, Happy Birthday Michael! Your presence is greatly missed! Thank you for the contributions you made to the music industry and charities, and the impacts you have made on fans worldwide. Not too many artists have a worldwide fan base, not like him! RIP MJ!

PEACE.

Remembering Aaliyah (1979-2001)-9 Yr. Anniversary

Good morning people! Hope everything is good! For my workers, it's halfway through the week so keep pushing! :)

Today marks the 9th anniversary of the late singer Aaliyah Haughton. Aaliyah passed away at the young age of 22 at the height of her career after her plane crashed shortly after take off in the Bahamas. Aaliyah had just finished shooting her video for "Rock The Boat." The other passengers killed in the crash were Scott Gallin, Keith Wallace, Douglas Kratz, Eric Foreman, Gina Smith, Christopher Maldonado, the pilot L. Marael, and Anthony Dodd. It was a very sad and tragic accident.

She is definitely one of my favorite singers of all time. She had style and grace. Her songs were beautiful. She really did tell stories through her music, which is lacking in a good amount of today's music. Really sweet and elegant young woman. I told my Twitfam that God gained a musical angel on this day in 2001. While her family, friends, those she worked with, and fans across the world mourn her loss, everyone can take joy in knowing that even for a short while, she made an impact while she walked this earth. Info about memorials set and Aaliyah's MTV Diary after the jump!
